Time for Mii to Test Wii Fit

My Dad made a Wii-livery today (that’s a delivery of any Wii related fun). He was in Circuit City and found a Wii Fit before my Amazon pre-order was shipped woo-hoo! I was excited to get my Wii Fit, but also a little nervous to see what it had to say about my Wii Age.

Wii Fit Day 1
I unpacked the Wii Fit box, hooked it up and had my first my first Body Test under my belt at 3:25pm. The results were as follows:

  • BMI: 24.22
  • Weight: 136.7 lbs.
  • Center of Balance: Left 50.1% and Right 49.9%
  • Wii Fit Age: 41 years UGH!

Following my dissapointing test results (umm… I’m NOT 41 yet) I decided to “play.” I recorded 66 minutes of play time in my “Fit bank” – 31 minutes of balance activities and 35 minuts of aerobic activites. I did not break a sweat during my first session, but I was still learning how to move and manipulate the balance board for each activity. I was hoping I would be able to get a better workout in my future sessions.

My initial impression was that even without breaking sweat you are gaining knowledge of how you carry yourself. I found myself leaning more to the left and slightly back on my heels. Some of the Balance activites that I did were; Soccer Heading, Ski Slalom, Ski Jump, Table Tilt, and Tightrope Walk. Aerobic activites that I attempted on my first day were Hula Hoop, Basic Step, Advanced Step, and Basic Run.

Wii Fit Day 2
Today is day 2 with my Wii Fit and I got up this morning to give it another try. I started with another Body Test. I am happy to report better results today at 7:44am:

  • BMI: 24.10
  • Weight: 136.0 lbs
  • Center of Balance: Left 51.7% and Right 48.3%
  • Wii Fit Age: 36 years

I repeated many of yesterday’s activites and I added: (Balance) Penguin Slide, Balance Bubble, and Snowboard Slalom as well as (Aerobic) Free Step, and Rhythm Boxing. My primary goal was to learn more about the Yoga portion of the Wii Fit. I went through the poses that are currently available: Deep Breathing, Half-Moon, Warrior, Tree, Sun Salutation, Standing Knee, Palm Tree.

I will keep you posted with more Wii Fit findings, but so far I’m finding that Wii Fit is a great way to start moving. As I push myself a bit more there seemes to be potential for a more rigorous workout. As with any fintess routine, the more effort you put in, the greater the workout, and results.
