This past weekend Kris, Mason, Anna, and I went camping with some friends at the KOA in Watkins Glen! We all had such a good time and there was so much to do.
I was so excited to be able to find activities while we were away that allowed me to do more than just sit on my butt around the campfire, not that there is anything wrong with a little of that too.
The KOA that we stayed at had a brand new family activity, the inflated gigantic jumping pillow.
I loved this, probably even more than Mason and Anna. Anna actually hurt her left knee on her very first and only time on the pillow. I think she is better know, probably jut a sprain.
Anyway, this gigantic jumping pillow was a great way to burn a few extra calories. I can not give an exact number burned, but based on my weight I burned about 55 calories every 15 minutes. That may not sound like a lot, but it is enough calories to burn off 1 Fat-Free Ball Park Frank (40 calories each).
The Watkins Glen KOA also had an indoor pool, so while the kids were playing Ii did about 30 minutes of water aerobics, burning about 125 calories.
To get some more exercise Kris, Mason, Anna (riding in a stroller), Janet, Mia, and I all walked back and forth across the campground to complete the campground scavenger hunt. We walked and walked and walked, up hills and down hills. I only wish I wore my pedometer so I could say just how far we walked, I can only guess that it was about 1.5 - 2.0 miles, maybe 175 calories!

The Great “Finger Lakes Treasure Hunt”
Now in its 13th year, our “Finger Lakes Treasure Hunt” will take you and your family around the campground as you solve clues and learn fascinating facts, legends and lore about our beloved Finger Lakes region. When you have completed the “hunt”, stop in at the store and claim your prize!. You can start this activity by getting your first clue to solve from our staff in the store/office!
I also found the hiking trail through the woods on Sunday morning what a great trail. I got some exercise and a little peace and quiet while the rest of my family was asleep. This 35 minute hike burned approximately 200 calories.
So in total I…
Bounced: 30 minutes = 100 calories
Water aerobics: 30 minutes = 125 calories
Walked the campground = 175 calories
Hiking through the woods = 200 calories
This is a GRAND TOTAL of 600 calories burned!
Bottom line ladies if you look you can find ways to get moving and burn a few extra calories even when you are away from home and your routine!
